Skills Development is a critical issue in South Africa and is one of the key strategic areas where the tourism private sector, aims to make a meaningful contribution for the benefit of the sector and the country as a whole. Following the national initiative of hosting the annual National Tourism Careers Exhibition, the private sector has decided to take the project a step further by hosting provincial Tourism Career Guidance Workshops. 

The workshops are targeted mainly at students already in the tertiary institutions and aim to change the perception that tourism cannot be taken seriously as a career option. Invitations are also extended to high school career guidance and life orientation teachers,as it is important that their advice is based on relevant information.
